I've done that. How else would I have turned on the ability for users to
change their password from the IM client?

This post is about sipX resetting the password that the user set in the
IM client to the password originally set in the sipX portal. I'm
wondering if sipX is changing the password back or if I just had a fluke
or if I am an idiot.
