Woof! The 5 minutes is due to FreeSWITCH's RTP inactivity timer. It can be changed, (rtp-timeout-sec in sofia.conf.xml) but only globally for all calls involving FS, not just for MOH calls. This is a known limitation of using FS for one-way audio generation.
When a SIP call is on hold, one side stops sending RTP, and other other can optionally keep sending RTP (i.e. MOH). Using FS as the media engine they way sipXecs does means that FS is not getting RTP from the far end for the MOH call, and eventually the RTP inactivity timer kicks in and tears it down. --Woof!
