TFTP server can hand out the correct file, as it is specified in the
[mac].cfg file that is built by sipXecs. And, it can all be in the same
root directory. In order to do this, there will need to be some GUI
programming to manage all of this. What I have proposed is one section of
the GUI to handle Legacy product, one section to handle current releases
prior to 3.3 which would be in the root TFTP directory, and a third section
that places all files into discrete folders based on the model number.

With this, all forms of phones can be handled as far as firmware goes.

The group profiles for the Configuration of the phones is an entirely
different beast, and can be handled the way that it is today I believe.
The groups are not recognized by Polycom as far as I can tell.

and I think you might be right, as long as the TFTP server can be told to
hand the right firmware out to the right phone!

I would think controlling firmware version by phone group would be
more useful then by phone model.
