Which version CD are you using? 3.10 CD should work fine, while the 3.11 CD has some issues currently.
If your VM is on a bridged network with the host, you most likely will not want a DHCP server running in the VM as it might conflict with the one running on your network. Select DNS and NTP but deselect DHCP.
