Indeed the TDM days are almost over...however, the old DBS will stick around to
provide analog services (much cheaper cost per port).

The sipX progress has been amazing. I've only been in the circle for a short
while now, in fact, I had never even heard of it until Brian West (BKW) of
FreeSwitch fame actually went out of his way to meet with me at a Mcdonald's
here in Tulsa and introduced me to sipX.

Amazing people, amazing project. I'm excited about work every day now...thanks
to sipX. :-)

Keep it up!

-Jim

The DBS was a pretty good old system... we still have many in service.

It's amazing with all this high-tech stuff that we still struggle to provide
functionality that we and the users took for granted with older TDM systems.
It's getting better all the time though. It's amazing how far just the sipX
project has come in 2 years.

Yes, monitoring park orbits seems to work just fine on the P650's. They have a
slight (1-2 second delay) before updating status, but very manageable.

Pickup won't work by pressing *4[speeddial]. I have worked around it by making
my park extensions single digit and naming the button "Park-41" for park 1,
"Park-42" for park 2...etc. That way, even though the call is actually parked
on extension "1" users can pickup the park by pressing *41. It seems to work
quite well, however, I'm moving everyone over from an old Panasonic DBS 576
which handled parks amazingly well so I still have grumblers. As I understand
future versions of sipX will allow special characters like * to be placed in
speed dial entries which would at least allow us to have a pick-up button,
albeit at a serious cost in BLF real estate.

I'll create a feature request.

Regards,

-Jim

Jim,

I don't think there's a facility to do that at this point. Would be a
nice to the Phone Groups area but the only thing you can propagate is
phone books that don't subscribe to presence.

Smells like a feature request!

I haven't tried monitoring a park orbit yet, I assume you have tested
this and it is working now?

To pickup do you dial *4 and hit the speed dial?

Thanks,
   Mike

Greetings,

I'm trying if figure out a way to propagate "Park buttons" to about 50
polycom650 phones. My first thought was to use the default
directory.xml, but since I'm monitoring the park presence, the ony
entries I can find appear in the resource-lists.xml From my
understanding that file is not being read by the phones.

Where can I add these entries so I might propagate these buttons to the
phones without manually editing each speed dial table manually?

Thanks,

-Jim
