Patton smartnodes are capable of t.38, so if you have a PRI, use an ATA with
t.38 (or use another patton smartnode, they make a 2 port FXS model).

You can also use g711.ulaw, cisco makes a nice 2 port model that works well
with that too. So does Grandstream. Both might be plug and play compatible with
sipx, but you have to make sure you get the correct model.

On our network we use Patton/Cisco for this, but we also use these in
conjunction with a sip trunk, not a PRI.

Hey guys,

I want to use our fax machine through our Patton Smartnode gateway
(PRI), and I don't think it would be very difficult to connect it with
a Cisco ATA or similar device, but wanted to get some feedback on the
best way to go about it.

Is it easiest to just plug the fax into an ATA device and give it an
extension? Will this work reliably with G7.11? Is there a better or
simpler way to accomplish this?

We only have one fax machine and we aren't looking for anything fancy,
just trying to get rid of our last POTS line and just use the PRI.

Thanks,
Matthew
