Patton smartnodes are capable of t.38, so if you have a PRI, use an ATA with t.38 (or use another patton smartnode, they make a 2 port FXS model).
You can also use g711.ulaw, cisco makes a nice 2 port model that works well with that too. So does Grandstream. Both might be plug and play compatible with sipx, but you have to make sure you get the correct model.
