I have an almost identical setup (Mediant - SipX - Linksys) and have
music on hold working between the Linksys phones but not softphones. I
did try plumbing the earphone socket from my MP3 player into the socket
on the Mediant Gateway, which I assumed worked like old TDM switches I
have used before, but so far no luck. In the past all I had to do was
connect in a portable DVD player and leave it running, but I have yet to
succeed with the Mediant Gateway. It would have helped if the supplier
had given me a manual of some kind with it, but where's the challenge in
that?

By the way, what formats of music can I upload into the SipX Config to
play to my IP clients? Does it need to be a certain frequency or file
type, such as .wav .mp3 or .aac? The default file provided is somewhat
cheesy for my tastes, I'd like to replace it with something a bit more
guitar oriented.

Subject: [sipx-users] Music on Hold

Hey everyone,

I'm using Linksys SPA962 phones with a Mediant 1000 gateway running on
SipX 3.10.2. The problem I'm facing is that MoH only works with
internal calls (i.e. calls between Linksys phones), but not PSTN calls
(i.e. calls from a Linksys phone to the outside world). I believe that
I do have the MoH server set properly (~~mh~@<sip_domain>).

Has anybody run into this before? If so, did you find a solution?

Thanks,

Barrett Falk
