Running sipx as a VM guest of any type is not really suggested for production deployments. There are a few people who have it working properly, but it seems to be more problematic if not done entirely correctly. The people who do have it working correctly control the hardware and fully understand how to give optimum resources to sipX, which can onyl be done if they actually control the hardware itself. In a Virtual environment, you may quickly find that audio from the media server becomes "choppy" unless you can control the resources that particular guest OS is using.
That being said, as long as your virtual environment is capable of installing from ISO (file on the host or directly inserted in its cdrom drive), you should be able to install it. VPS (psoft.net) is probably more limiting than most that I've seen (my opinion) in this regard. I don't think your installation question is a sipx question, and you might check with your VPS administrator what your choices are. Most VPS/Hosting admin's have a "gold" copy of OS's the system produces, and you can pick one of the to use. Usually hosting providers will give you access to a "template" for several different OS's. You may find you have to install a VPS approved/provider sanctioned version of Centos 5,uninstall anything that shouldn't be there (apache, postrges), installthe sipx yum repo and try installing from yum. Good luck. >>> "dimitris" <[email protected]> 02/14/09 2:28 AM >>>Hi everybody, I would like to install sipx 3.10.3 into a remote VPS,with no physical access. The only access I have , is through virtuozzo. My VPSis running CentOS 5 , and my question is how can I install sipx , while thereis not GUI support through virtuozzo ? So far I have used the .iso for local installation, which , I can say, was very simple process through the graphic menus etc. Isthere any solution for remote installation ? Thank you very much dimitris </[email protected]>
