That worked however the status indication lights do not change if the user is on the phone or not. Subscribe to presence is enabled on all entries.

All you should need to do is go to the "Speed Dial" page for the receptionist extension, and enter all the extensions which you want to show up on the receptionist's phone. (With "Monitor presence" (or whatever it is called) checked.) The click save, send profile for the phone, and get the phone to reboot (which it should do automatically).
