Christopher,

What you might want to do is open a ticket on this
(http://track.sipfoundry.org) and possibly the person that coded the
configuration page for the Linksys phones could modify the templates...

Subject: Re: [sipx-users] Does anyone use Linksys Ip-Phone in SipXecs?

I'm currently replacing my company's phones and phone system. I ended up
choosing Linksys SPA-942 phones, manually installing CentOS 5.3 x86_64
Final, loading SipX 4.0.1 from RPMs, and using a Patton SmartNode 4960 1
PRI for the voice gateway.

Out of the box important features were missing from the linksys plugin.
I ended up modifying the three files in the /etc/sipxpbx/linksys:
default.cfg (The default profile the phone looks for out of the box. A
copy gets placed in /var/sipxdata/configserver/phone/profile/tftproot as
spa942.cfg when you setup the first SPA94x phone), phone.xml (xml
template the custom phone cfg is generated from), and phone.properties
(source for what options you get from the Phone Groups -> GroupName - >
Linksys SPA942 section)

This works great in the short run for quick changes and adding
functionality to get up and running right now. Most likely these
modified files will get replaced if I update the SipX RPMs which doesn't
happen all that frequently.

I've found a few flaws of the present linksys plugin.

One is the Volume levels are specified. The result, from being specified
in the provisioning file, is if the the end user changes the volumes
(like to turn up or down the ringer or the headset volume) the provision
will get pushed back down to the phone next time it checks resetting the
volumes to what are specified in the provisioning file. If the volumes
are not specified they will remain unchanged.

Another is the Voice Mail Server needs to be specifiedas
[email protected],but at present the the item is specified at the Phone
Group level so every phone in the profile has the same value. The result
is the phone icon doesn't turn into an envelope when you have a
voicemail.

I can only attest for firmware SPA942_6.1.5a and SipX 4.0.1. Unlike the
wiki page
<http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/HowTo_configure_Linksys_SPA_phon
es_with_sipX> , Phones CAN do call retrieve from park orbit. Music on
hold works by setting MOH Server: to [email protected] .

Even with these present hiccups I've been rather impressed and happy
with all the hardware and software I've chosen.

Since Cisco acquired Linksys small business there has been very little
documentation on these SPA phones, but recently (I just noticed) Cisco
has provided documentation
<http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10033/tsd_products_support_mainta
in_and_operate.html> . The Cisco SPA Administration Guide is really
thorough and even shows you how to use those extra line buttons for
other features like call park , Busy Lamp Field (BLF), call pickup, or
speed dial. I haven't tested this functiontionality yet, but will soon.

As far as the argument for Linksys SPA94x over Polycom IP 3xx, the
Linksys SPA phones are really quite good phones. The SPA941 and SPA942
give you 4 lines to play with where the IP 3xx only give you two lines.
I have not used the Polycom IP 3xx phones, but from I can tell they have
all the same keys as the Linksys SPA94x, but the SPA94x allow you to
program your unused line keys.

I know I probably went into more detail than needed for your questions,
but I thought it might help.

I've also attached my current modified plugin files so you could compare
to what comes with SipX if you wanted to do something similar.
