thanks,

But my case is actually a Bug I think... I found out if the user has 'shared'
lines turned on instead of "private" line configure then this happens... i
removed the 'share' line option and it worked.

There is one place where it has to be “turned
on”, if the user does not have voicemail permission (“Permissions”
link at the left side of the user management page), then it can’t
subscribe to MWI notifications either. I don’t believe that this is your
problem, however, because this permission is granted by default.

We had similar adventures with Cisco 7940
phones. In that case, if the domain was not configured correctly in DNS, MWI
did not work. E.g. if the SIP proxy was configured by IP address and not by its
DNS name. I propose that you check your DNS configuration.

If that does not help, you should check
whether the phone subscribes at all to MWI notifications. You should see
something like this coming from the phone after it boots up:

SUBSCRIBE sip:[email protected]
SIP/2.0

Call-ID:
[email protected]

CSeq: 1 SUBSCRIBE

From:
<sip:[email protected]>;tag=329878

To:
<sip:[email protected]>

Max-Forwards: 70

Contact: <sip:[email protected]:5560>

Expires: 1800

Event: message-summary

Content-Length: 0

where 404 is the SIP user name.

Regards,

Gabor

Subject: [sipx-users] MWI (message
waiting indicator)

I have Polycoms 650 and 550 IP phones and when a caler
leave a message I don't see any indication on the phone that a message has been
left.

How do I turn this on and I'm running SipX 4.02 with patch 17.

Thanks
