As far as I know, up through at least Lotus Notes 8.5.1, the IMAP IDLE command is not available. You can open a telnet session to your IMAP server, and test using some of the syntax described:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2177 This would be a way of confirming one way or another.
