What IMAP server are you running? There are quite a few IMAP servers that don't support the necessary portions of the IMAP RFC ( http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3501.html ) for sipX integration.
Though a comprehensive list of compatible IMAP servers hasn't been made yet, if memory serves correctly these are the ones known to work: Courier Dovecot Exchange Cyrus versions 2.3.x These are known NOT to work: Cyrus versions 2.2.x or older GroupWise Gmail There are probably others that I don't remember right now.
