This is a suggestion for simplifying the "Job Status" dispaly in the web interface. Or rather, for *clarifying* it.
The current job status display shows the various tasks that are happening in he background. This is interesting, but it does not answer the one question I really want answered: "Are you done yet?", that is, are all of the scheduled tasks finished? The reason is that the displayed tasks are really sub-tasks of the tasks that are initiated by the user's actions, and that the sub-tasks are executed sequentially and only displayed when they have been initiated, that is, after the previous sub-task has finished. I can see two ways to clarify the situation. One way is to display all of the queued-up subtasks, along with the ones that are executing and the ones that are finished. Then one could tell when the tasks are done, all of the tasks would be finished. In this case, it would be helpful to have a "Clear Finished Tasks" to remove the visual clutter of the many finished tasks. Another way would be to display the status of the user-initiated tasks, as well as the subtasks now displayed. Thus, if one clicks "Send profiles to all phones", there would be a "Send profiles to all phones" master-task displayed, starting immediately after the click, and transitioning to finished state when the last profile was sent and the last phone was restarted.
