Is there any way to get sipXbridge (or is it sipXrelay?) to decode audio and generate RFC2833 codes based on the audio? _______________________________________________ That turns out to be difficult to do in practice. With the relatively low-bit-rate codecs, DTMF can't be reliably decoded from the audio stream. (That's why RFC 2833 was invented, so DTMF wouldn't be affected by encoding noise.) So *any* attempt to turn in-band DTMF into reliable DTMF identification is likely to be unreliable.
