Mus,

On the Avaya site they have an application note for configuring their
4600 series with an Asterisk system using the SIP software.

I have been looking at that to see whether there is a way to use our
4600 series phones on SipX. Looks like you are way ahead of me.

Anyway, in the doc I came across an odd "feature" of the Avaya SIP
software for 4600 SIP phones that can disrupt outbound dialing in some
cases.

Under 7. Verification steps

3- As the Avaya 4600 Series IP Telephones (running the SIP software)
cannot dial "*"

properly, verify that the dial plan does not include dialing a "*". For
example, the

default number to dial for call pickup for an Asterisk server is "*8".
This must be

changed to a different number.

Perhaps for another thread would you be so kind as to provide some
pointers on how to setup a 4600 series phone using sipx.

Regards,

Don

Subject: [sipx-users] sipxecs and Avaya IP phone

Hi all,

My sipxecs server works well with softphone like X-lite, I can make
outgoing and ingoing calls between extensions, but I have a problem with
a hard phone, Avaya 4620 and 4621 in fact.

the registration is OK and all parameters (IP Adresse, Mask, Route, Call
Server, File server and Extension) are OK too.

I can make calls from X-lite to Avaya but from Avaya to X-lite doesn't
work.

Is there a problem with this Avaya IP Phone range and Sipxecs ?

Is it a problem with Avaya SIP firmware? the firmware version for my
Avaya IP phone is 2.2.

I'll appreciate any help.

Regards,

Mus.
