You cannot use a domain alias with xmpp. Ditto's on the Counterpath statement to me, they have no intention to support SRV for XMPP, nor would they take it under advisement.
In order for presence to work, your phone profile and xmpp profile need to be set phone=sip only, xmpp=xmpp only (and presence). The XMPP server needs to be the openfire server on sipx, in order to get the dialogue events to update presence from the phone.
