I knew I was eventually going to run into a client that has a
callmanager system they are looking to ditch but would like to keep
the phones so I've got to brush up on my Cisco. My questions to those
that use Cisco phones are:
·What features are lost when converting from SCCP to SIP on 79x0 and
79x1 series phones? According to
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7962g_7961g_7961g-ge_7942g_7941g_7941g-ge/8_0/english/administration/guide/62614241apxb.html
the feature parity is getting pretty close now but I'd like to hear
from others that have deployed sipX.
·What doesn't work with sipX on these phones?
MWI (there is a workaround)
attended transfers to anything but cisco phones
Hold (is messed up, sipx tries to do c=0.0.0.0 even though phone
supports ne rfc's)
as for what is missing: unified directory, services, you name it, its
not even close to SCCP.
·What is the latest firmware supported for these phones that works
properly with sipX?
I am running P0S3-8-12-00
go to jira and search for author [email protected] and cisco. there
are a couple of patches for minor things.
ps, and pps, I would be willing to send someone at ezuce a 7960 with the
new firmware on it. TO KEEP..
