sipXecs is an enterprise telephone system. As such, it will generally be
installed on a companies domain. You would give it a host name on that
domain. SipXecs.bobgailer.com as an example.

On the front page of sipfoundry.org there is a large graphic with a link to
a book about the sipXecs system. It's a great starter book.

The user web is access by the same method you use to access the
administrator web. Simply enter the username and password for the user you
want to access.

Voip.ms works fine with sipXecs. Yes, FXO and FXS is supported, but not
from within the server. They need to be standalone gateways - Audio Codes,
Patton are a examples.

Personally, I'd re-install if the domain name is messed up by using
yahoo.com. It takes 20 minutes, and it's a good exercise to help learn the
system better.

Subject: [sipx-users] New Subscriber Intro

I just started reseaching sipXecs. I've been administering a trixbox system.

sipXecs seems to offer a superior experience. I like the GUI a lot
better, and it seems to update dynamically rather than requiring a reload.

What are the negatives if I convert?

I installed the latest ISO so I can experiment. My box has only 512M
Ram. sipXecs requires 2 G, yet my system seems to function. By what
magic, or what roadblocks will I run into?

I did not understand the request, in the network phase of installation,
for a host name. That came out of the blue! So I offered yahoo.com which
on retrospect was a mistake. Is there a way I can change it, or do I
have to reinstall?

What is the best way to gain familiarity?

Is there any sort of book to guide the newcomer?

Some things that seem shortcomings or missing -
   DISA
IVR accepting more than 1 digit.

Is scripting possible?

I wish there were more details re the GXP2000. There is an article that
mentions that phone, but the details that follow just mention the
Budgetone. Does sipXecs generate the cfg<MAC> configuration files?

How do I access the User Web Configuration Portal?

I don't understand the behavior of the wiki search. For example I put in
"dhcp" and get:

No page title matches
There is no page titled "dhcp".

followed by:

Page title matches
     * HowTo Configure DHCP and DNS Server

Huh?

My current DHCP server distinguishes devices by MAC address ranges. Can
I do that with sipXecs?

I use voip.ms as my ITSP. Will that work with sipXecs?

Is there any support for FSX - FXO cards?

I appreciate in advance any guidance or direction.
