Make a domain up. For example - use bobgailer.local Using Local is a
normal practice when the system will not connect to the internet. Or, you
can buy a domain name so that it can be accessed from the internet if you
will be using remote users, etc. Just ensure its not a name in use on the
internet today.

Mike Picher wrote the book. I think he did an excellent job on it, and he
collaborated with several of the sipXecs developers. It is a book, not an
encyclopedia.

I am installing it for now in my SOHO. I have no domain (that I am aware
of). Eventually it might go into a small non-profit office. Again, no
domain that I am aware of, just a bunch of Windows workstations on a
LAN. Or do I not understand "domain"?

Great. I will jump into it. Now I see the fine print "Get the book!" I
see it is a Packt Publication. I hope they did a much better job than
Garrison's trixbox CE 2.6 book.

There are reviews of the book on Amazon and The Michigan Telephone blog
- a bit discouraging.

OK I will try that.

Good.

OK will do. What do I use for a domain name if (as I think) I have no
domain?
