and depending upon the phone, you could always make a corporate directory from a hosted service internal or not using x html and the like.
at least with a web hosted directory the phones are somewhat agnostic and unaffected by changes. they are also not limited by licensing , memory, depending upon the way you deploy it coma brand, model, or screen size.
