I think you are going to make this harder than you need to and confusing some other methods. The ISP is letting the email originate, so if it is sending to "one" domain, it can "send". It's a matter of whether that host is allowed to send on the domains behalf. The customer might have done something like implement SPF records (a good idea too). If they don't have the sipx server defined they need to define it in their DNS SPF by adding it and it will work.
