I think you are better served to use at least 8gb of ram for
essentially any system running 4.4 these days unless you are
support a very small number of users.

There are 3 things to look for in the
perfromance/scalability of a sipx system from a hardware
perspective:

1. RAM - sipx uses java extensively, the more java, the
better. Once you pass a dozen or so users, 4GB starts to
erode over time and you start using SWAP. This leads to
other performance issues.

2. CPU - The more L3 cache the faster it is. You WILL notice
a tremendous difference in a CPU with 8M or 12M L3 cache
than one with 4M. Bootup and service load is tremendously
reduced too.

3. Storage - Whether you use 7200 or 10000 or 15000 rpm
drives is up to you. HOW the system is used really makes a
difference with your drive type/layout. Media services play
a huge part in use of the storage system (playing and
recording media). If you expect during peak hours to have 15
voicemails being recorded at any given time, you might opt
for 10k or 15k rpm drives, etc.
