I think this is jira worthy. I know you can "add mybuddy" from the sipxconfig gui or manually. One would assume if you do it by group, and it shows as online, it would be authorized and should responds to queries or send messages. BEFORE you submit a JIRA, does it work with spark 2.5.8 and are you simply finding a pidgin issue or is it an sipx-openfire issue? If it is a pidgin issue, i'm not sure it should be addressed here (IMO).
