sipX is not really poised to address the needs of a
residential user. It's really aimed at corporate
communications.

To that end, the sipxbridge and media relay functions that
allow trunking and remote users are built-in to allow easy
connectivity for this type of use case.

I do not know of anyone using sipXecs for skype on a
personal account. I am not aware of anyone asking for a
residential connector for skype in sipx until now.

Your use case might be unique and simply may not generate a
lot of interest.

In our customer base there is "zero" interest in Skype from
a commercial connectivity standpoint. A lot of corporate
customers feel skype is problematic because it does not
adhere to a lot of US laws, and by bringing it into their
network it creates a lot of issues. Not having a centralized
network or being able to answer a law enforcement intercept
request is a big issue with some firms, so is e911. Solving
one thing and generating a lot of legal issues to take a
single easy step around something is nto always in their
favor.

Since Skype "personal" is not sip in the loosest sense, I
don't know how easy that would be to integrate to sipx as an
independent gateway.

I find regular ITSP's cheap enough. 1.50 per month for a DID
number and around a penny per minute. Skype is usually a lot
more than that for voice, so guess it just doesn't get
discussed much.
