We have found that you can use BootROM 4.2.1 instead of 4.3.0 and that fixes
the problem.

Subject: [sipx-users] BootROM 4.3.0 Fails With Polycom SoundStation IP 6000

Hi everyone,

So I upgraded my firmware today though sipxecs (4.4.0 installed). I
upgraded to BootROM 4.3.0 with Firmware 3.2.4b (split), as suggested by this
page: http://wiki.sipfoundry.org/display/sipXecs/Polycom+Phones

I have a bunch of IP 321 phones, and they upgraded just fine.
However, my SoundStation IP 6000 doesn't work, it fails with an error
"Error, Application Not Found". Some digging has found that the reason for
this, is that TFTP is broken in 4.3.0, and the suggestion is to upgrade to
4.3.1 (see
http://community.polycom.com/t5/VoIP/IP6000-Won-t-load-application/td-p/2901
).
So, of course, BootROM 4.3.1 has a broken link on Polycom's download
site... I'm not sure if this is a mistake or on purpose.

The phones are on networks connected via OpenVPN, so they are setup with the
DNS and TFTP server manually, since DHCP is not available over the VPN. I
tried to change my IP 6000 to boot over FTP, but no change that I can see.
Any suggestions? Downgrade?

AJ
