Did you test DNS from both directions? 4.4.0 is quite different for internet traffic, you need to make sure any 'local' IP's are listed in Internet calling. A local IP is an IP that you don't want to go outbound to the Internet. That being said, since it's working in 1 direction, I suspect DNS (gee, that's a shock). Test on both servers and 'as a phone'. What I mean by 'as a phone' is make your laptop get it's IP info in the same manner a phone would and then test. See DNS concepts in http://wiki.sipfoundry.org for info on how to test DNS.
