The current suggested methos is:

install 4.6 from ISO (when its out), and do a restore from a 4.4 system.

The actual procedure will be different, since 4.6 is slightly different. In
reality, it's the same method, just the steps might change slightly.

example: Here is how I move between hardware for the same setup in 4.4.
Install 4.4 from ISO. Run through install script and set superadmin
password, etc. Do an onboard back. Copy your other 4.4 backup (same domain
name, ip, hostname) to the onboard backup then do a local restore.

How this will work in 4.6 has yet to be seen in its entirety, it's being
worked on. The setup script will be different, but the method(s) will
remain the same.

I only mentioned the schema stuff in way-back versions because the DB is
changing, and this has not been tested yet (4.4->4.6), because it's not
quite ready to test.

I think there has to be an approved, easy method like this to go from 4.4
to 4.6, and I'm sure it will happen. I think you are fine to run on centos5
until 4.6 is ready and it will also allow you to be able to test it and
have the good vibes you need on the migration procedure. I don't expect it
to be hard, just planned.
