Or an even cheaper alternative to a smartphone is something like the
Samsung Galaxy Player... It's basically a Samsung Galaxy S without the
phone radio. Wifi, BlueTooth, GPS, SD card slot... all for around $200
and available at BestBuy. Run Bria or CSipSimple on it plus if you want a
good XMPP client on it you can run Xabber.

Any tablet can also function in the same manner.

I've been testing an iPad 2 with Bria for iPad on it and it's working
great. I've got a Plantronics 9xx bluetooth headset paired with it and I'm
using it for my desk phone. This is what Bria on Android should have
been... They are working on a new version for Android and Android tablet
so this is going to get pretty interesting.

I've got one of these on order
http://www.nativeunion.com/us/wirelessproducts/curve-bluetooth.html I want
to see with a handset like this if I can just totally replace the need for
a deskphone. This will get really interesting with google's new $200 tablet
(not that a kindle fire couldn't do it, it's just a little pokey).
