We evaluated the Audio Codes MSBG and two other SBC vendor products
(InGate and Acme Packet), decided on another vendor so the AC Eval Unit
(box) got returned. I haven't been logged in since last August.

The MSBG adds a second config file for the SBC functions that sipXecs
does not have. So all of the SBC settings were manual.

I remember a few things..
- We had to tell it the DNS records for proxy and reg access was an SRV
record, by default it assumed they were A records.
- I did find a note of interest; One of the problems fixed by a
parameter change was 'BrokenConnectionEventTimeout = 1000'.
        > The default of '100' was way too low.

We stopped the eval on it once we determined our SBC requirements
exceeded what the software was designed to handle. We did have some
atypical requirements. But as far as we got it seemed to be a decent SBC
for the right fit.

Thanks for the response, Don.

Do you have any specific guidance on what kinds of tweaking you had to
perform, or what functional areas gave you the most trouble? Was your
testing eventually successful?

My starting point on this is to compare a base .ini file downloaded from
the MSBG gateway, with a base .ini file generated by Sipxecs for the
Mediant 1000 model. My hope is that this provides enough to get me
going in the right direction, but any pointers would be appreciated.

Dave.

I evaluated this last summer. We tested config as
SipX-LAN-MSBG-Internet-ITSP.
6.0 was the first version w/SBC functionality. 6.2 fixed problems we
encountered with 6.0. Haven't tested 6.4.
Use 'unmanaged'. There will be a lot of parameter tweaking from defaults
so I suggest you get used to the web admin interface.

Subject: [sipx-users] Mediant 1000 MSBG

Is anybody using the Mediant 1000 MSBG with Sipxecs or openUC as a
Managed Gateway?

There is not an exact match for this particular model, what is the
recommendation for setting one of these guys up under Sipxecs/openUC?
Are there any benefits to managed vs unmanaged, other than generating
the configuration file for you?

Also, there are also no enums present for newer versions of the
AudioCodes firmware (specifically 6.2 and 6.4). Has anybody tested with
these versions, and are there any known benefits to either sticking with
6.0 or using the latest version of either 6.2 or 6.4?

Thanks,

Dave.
