I've been lurking on this list for a bit over a week now hoping to see
some discussion of the status of systemimager for redhat. Like others
on sisuite-users, I've run into problems compiling versions 3.0.1-4,
3.1.5-1, and even 3.2 on latest patch level versions of redhat{8,9}
(i.e. glibc 2.3.2). The builds mostly fail on issues related to the
thread-safe errno macro. (Note: I'm using the rpms for 3.{0,1}, but
3.2 build on rh9 fails in precisely the same places as 3.1.5).
I've bashed through getting the 3.1.5-1 rpm buildable on redhat 9, and
have done some rudimentary testing (autoinstallcd works). It required
a number of repairs to the spec file, source code and make .rul files,
mostly to be able to apply patches to dosfstools and other src/ stuff
that didn't have the patches dir trick.
Is there any interest in the results of this work, or am I duplicating
someone else's effort? If there is interest, what's the 'right' way
to get my changes reviewed and accepted? I really *need* for the
newer versions to be buildable as well as operational with redhat9,
since they've declared EOL in three months on all distributions prior
to 9, but I don't want to be a distraction.
