If there is no problem that
rcS cannot create /tmp/si.log, then the problem maybe other. After rcS systemimager does:

because it is a read-only file system. If you are getting that you
are using CVS HEAD. Don't worry those messages are completely innocuous, and
I'll figure out a way to get rid of them over time. Error messages after that
