Do it in trunk if you need it.

If you don't yet depend on it, it will come across when I merge the udev
stuff back into trunk as I'm using it there.

dmesg can be easily built into busybox by modifying the config and adding the 
line:

CONFIG_DMESG=y

This could potentially be useful information for si_monitor.  Still doesn't 
help us in the situation where the kernel panics during boot, but at least it 
can tell us whether a particular driver was loaded during boot.
