Thanks for the response. I actually managed to get things working on the x86_64 platform, but applying a patch to 3.2.3 that was posted on the devel list. I then made one change to a part of the Makefile that wasn't working, and then changed several kernel options to have sata_sil, scsi, and ext2,3 built into the kernel. After that, I was able to pxeboot and successfully get an image.
Since that worked, I don't have a pressing need to test the latest changes to CVS, but I will soon anyway to make sure the next release is going to work for me... :) P.S., someone else wrote and asked about systemimager on gentoo. I'm interested in that too.
