I pulled sis "3.5.2" from subversion, built RPMs as per Ole's excellent HOWTO, have some additional notes at the end of this post.
PXE/DHCP Question: Upon rebooting client, I get DHCPREQUEST, and server gives DHCPOFFER with correct IP address (I'm using fixed-address and applied fixed-address patch to dhcp). I then see a continued pattern of DHCPREQUEST and DHCPOFFER, then PXE times out after about ten(?) attempts, and tries the whole cycle again after 5 minutes. These are IBM x330's, and they have PXE-booted in the past with much older xcat and sisuite packages (originally installed about 3 years ago), along with redhat 7.2. I'm now using latest sisuite (xcat not yet installed) and RHEL4 clone (Fermi SL4). Regards, Dan W. Additional notes on RHEL4 installation on administrative/management node: Before trying to download and recompile sisuite, make sure you do the following: download to /usr/src: zlib-1.1.4.tar.gz, openssl-0.9.7e.tar.gz, popt-1.6.2.tar.gz make sure these are installed (some are for xcat): gcc, glibc-devel, glibc-headers, glibc-kernheaders, cpp, gcc-c++, libstdc++-devel, flex, e2fsprogs-devel, readline-devel, libtermcap-devel, libtool, libtool-libs, automake, autoconf zlib-devel, openssl-devel, krb5-devel expect, tcl, tftp-server, tftp lm_sensors, net-snmp-libs, net-snmp, net-snmp-utils, net-snmp-perl, net-snmp-devel, dhcp, rpm-build, which apr, apr-util, umb-scheme, guile, swig, neon, subversion As you can see, I start my servers out with minimal install. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM.
