I'm trying to install based on the kernel and initrd.img created with UseYourOwnKernel.pm. I copied them from my goldenclient into /tftpboot on the image server. These load from tftp and the kernel boots fine. But as soon as init starts, I see problems.
init started: BusyBox ... mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory Loading tmpft... mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory Didn't load -- assuming it's built into the kernel mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount_proc mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory switch_root_to_tmpfs... done! mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount_dev_on_devfs mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount: Mounting devfs on /dev failed: No such device Killing off running processes. mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory mount: /proc/mounts: No such file or directory write_variables yada yada /# It's clear no proc filesystem got mounted. And most likely my kernel does not support devfs. My goldenclient runs SuSE Enterprise 9 which does not use devfs. But I think proc should have mounted.
