I have been struggling with getting sisuite up and running on a SuSE-10.0 imageserver. I think I have all of the functions working now from the server end and have successfully pulled images from various goldenclients I need to replicate. Now my problem is when I attempt to boot to the install kernel, it pulls the kernel across via tftp but when the kernel boots on the box it does not find the network hardware. The boxes I have to install onto have bcm5780 (Broadcom Gbit nics) chips. I have installed and tried the kernel and initrd from systemimager-x86_64boot-standard-3.6.3-1 and systemimager-x86_64initrd_template-3.6.3-1
This kernel and initrd boots but never finds any networking hardware. It takes me to a systemimage root prompt where I try ifconfig or netstat commands only to see nothing showing up. I tried changing the kernel to the kernel I normally use to boot the systems but then that one failed to mount filesystems. I tried a 2.4 based kernel from a site that was supposed to be an enhanced (with extra network drivers) SI kernel but that one did not like some modprobe commands that were done as part of the SI boot process. Is there any documentation about adding modules to a kernel within the BOEL kernels or replacing BOEL kernel with one that might work for my hardware? -- Steven A.
