OK, and what's the output of 'uname -a' in your golden client? and the output of
the following commands:

# file /var/lib/systemimager/images/<your_image>/etc/systemimager/boot/kernel
# file /usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386/<your_image>/kernel
# diff /usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386/<your_image>/kernel
/var/lib/systemimager/images/<your_image>/etc/systemimager/boot/kernel
# file /var/lib/systemimager/images/<your_image>/usr/bin/perl
# file /var/lib/systemimager/images/<your_image>/usr/bin/systemconfigurator
# head /var/lib/systemimager/images/<your_image>/usr/bin/systemconfigurator

Moreover could you post your kernel config? (usually in
.../<your_image>/boot/config-*)

Regards,
-Andrea
