I haven't tried that, but the procedures I've seen outlined on the wiki 
etc seem exceptionally complex. Is there an idiots guide? :)

/usr/share/systemimager/boot/x86_64/standard/kernel does not exist.

I'm not sure what that is trying to do. If I created that directory the 
message just changes from 'not found' to 'not mounted'.

It's Scientific Linux 4.5 on x86_64.
Does that make a difference? The machine I'm trying to restore to is 
exactly the same as the client, they were even bought / installed at the 
same time!
