Well, I'll answer my own question.

Word to anyone who might be reading this list, looking for pre-boot
settings for their machine if you're not running a DHCP server:

1) You *have* to specify a BROADCAST setting, whether you are using a
broadcast protocol or not.

2) I would recommend using *all* the network settings, or you may run
into some trouble.

3) If you have a set of disk partitions that are large, you *must*
increase your rsync timeout because the first query for the BOEL files
comes before parted and mke2fs commands, then the rsync starts.
