Populist agenda includes steps taken, intended to be taken or acts performed pertaining to ordinary people's requirement or to suit and meet the demand of people or to calm and pacify the demand and voice of a section of people utilizing democratic or government money that one can put his hands on. This practice is followed almost everywhere to gain and stabilize political power by satisfying various agitating interests that range from poor people, workers and trade unions to powerful corporate CEOs, big industrial houses and rival political elements. Protagonists advocating implementation of populist agenda no longer want to be ruled by big business houses and their pet politicians who they believe are running big governments. They no longer want to be a prey to the rich, they want progressive civil rights and equality, they want the rich to be heavily taxed, and they want a strong national movement for values and morality. Different interests view and interpret a populist agenda differently. During election time, the government may reduce the tax rate. It will be considered as a populist agenda to gain favor of the rich and the big industrialists. On the other hand laws making expensive colleges affordable to everyone and laws reducing corporate influence on government will be considered as a populist agenda for the worker and the common man....
