Hello, I have Skim set up such that it saves the markup as .skim file next to the PDF.
Usually, I open PDFs with Apple's preview, however, I would like to open those that have Skim markups with Skim. I could tell the Finder to "Open with..." Skim, however, this is cumbersome if there are many files to open. Same is for dragging Finder icons onto the Dock Skim icon. I also could double click the .skim file, which opens a list of annotations. There is a button to open the PDF, however, this is an additional step and possible a third one, because the .skim window has to be closed manually. To make this scenario more effective, I would like to propose the following: 1. Add to the preferences something like "Open .skim file additionally opens PDF" and "Open .skim file exclusively opens PDF" (the latter would close the .skim file and the PDF would be the only remaining window). 2. Option + double click in Finder opens a file, but closes the Finder window. It would be good to have a similar behavior for the "Open PDF" button at the .skim file window: Option + click opens the PDF and closes the .skim file window. 3. Another preference setting would help as well: Something like "Open with Skim next time after saving". Whenever Skim saves some markup, it would also change the metainformation such that it is the default application for opening that particular file next time from the Finder.
