I use rsync to mirror directory structures between machines.  It has a  
lot of options, but there are plenty of examples in the man page.

My favorite usage is:
rsync -avub     SRCDIR/     lo...@dst-machine:MIRRORDIR/

Also, you can use the following to preview changes that would result  
if you executed the above command
rsync -n -avub     SRCDIR/     lo...@dst-machine:MIRRORDIR/

One drawback of this approach is that it is hard to merge changes that  
occur in separate locations, but it is a quick solution without the  
overhead of a version control system.
