Patrick, Checking the file size of xxxx.GSC was the excellent tip! It appeared to be different from the size as indicated by you and by the tar file. Cause: winzip thinks the better default for untarring files is to do it with "smart CR/LF conversion"! (regardless it's a binary file or not!). So for anybody downloading GSC tar files and untarring with winzip: go to "properties" and uncheck the "smart CR/LF convertion" feature. Patrick, thanks a lot for your help!
