I am trying to generate some plots of the tracks of some 16th-century
comets input manually from Brian Marsden's Catalog. I keep getting
the "invalid floating decimal point" error. I have version 2.75 with
the basic package. I have tried varying the eccentricity and
inclination, changing the epoch from 1950 to 2000, changing the
projection, and selecting dates from the 16th century to the
present. ('Calendar' doesn't work, either.) Capriciously, once, and
once only, when I selected all 5 comets plus one in the built-in
database, I got a display of instantaneous positions of all 6 comets,
and I thought I was making progress, but I have been unable to repeat
this partial success.
