Thanks John
I can now alert some of my friends of such events without worrying about
egg on my face. I did bring the december Jupiter event to the attention of our
local cable company ( Shaw cable) and an area talk show radio station CFAX1070
but advised them to have it confirmed proffesionally. I checked a popular
Asronomy magazine and it said nothing interesting was happening in December 04.

The times should be very accurate. There's a "high-precision" file you
can get from the download page for even better accuracy in planet
postions, but I think the difference is something like arcseconds per
century, vs arcseconds per decade, so even the basic version should be
so accurate you'd have a hard time measuring any error.
