Hi, all.
I would like to either create or import an external catalog in Cartes
du Ciel with the Meade alignment stars. Now, I was going to write my
own catalog, but in checking the CdC download site, it appears to me
that the work has already been done. At the download site, under
"Additional catalogues," there is, third from bottom, LX200 alignment
stars, and its download, LX200al.zip I tried that. I must be doing
something wrong with its installation, because the following
instructions don't activate it.
In the instructions for CdC, under "Sky Charts / Catalogues and Object
Parameters," "Stars and nebulae catalogs prepared with the CATGEN
software," it says
"Use the New button to add a line for a new catalog... Click the
button [file folder symbol] at the right to select a new catalog.
Select the .hdr file that contain the description for the catalog. In
the case of an error the cell is boxed in red. Click the first column
to set it to green to activate the catalog."
In the unzipped download, there are four files:
LX200aln.cds
LX200.dat
LX200.cds
LX200aln.dat
I don't see any .hdr file. For that matter I don't see any .hdr in any
of the existing, working catalog folders either.
I also downloaded the CATGEN and installed it in the CdC folder, but
haven't done anything with it yet. Is that what's needed here?
I figure I must be doing something wrong procedurally, but don't know
what. Can anybody help?
Pete
