I'm having the same problem.  I ran into the skewed chart problem a 
few days ago (first time I noticed it).  At the time I wasn't doing 
anything important so I just shut the program down and restarted.  
Then when I saw your message it occurred to me that the orientation 
in the search>locate dialog should cure it, but I haven't been able 
to get a skewed chart again to test it, except by using the 15° 
rotation arrows, which setting orientation = 0 seems to cure.  That 
makes me wonder if the way I got there originally was by using one of 
the rotation arrows.

As a short-cut, you can also use the "reset" button in the 
search>locate dialog.  Make sure you click "OK" after 
setting/resetting the orientation angle.
