I am using a Gateway EV910 with Microsoft XP professional. My printer
is
a Cannon PIXMA iP4000. There has been no problem with other programs
printing their data.
I have been running Ciel v2.76 with excellent results. The printer
works
well in v2.76, the size of the screen characters, Font #8, prints
comparable to the screen size characters. In contrast the new version
v3.09, which also uses Font size #8 for alphabetical characters, prints the
alpha characters so small one needs a 10 power glass to read them. The
planets on the screen are clearly visible and proportional sized and color
coded. The printed copy is to small to read. I have attached an HP scanner
copy of the printer output in jpg. ( Make the copy to 8.5 x 11 and you
will see the problem.) I can make the printer output more legible by
selecting Font size # 36 or # 48 which obliterates the screen view but
prints about font size #2 if there were such a font available. The problem
is the reduction of the screen font size #8 characters to the print font
size characters.
The first time I printed the map I did not make any changes to the
output. After my first request I did go into the Configuration file and
view all of the options. Most options remain at the default
setting. Under item 6#, Display, I have manipulated both the Label sizes
and the Display sizes large enough to view. Unfortunately I cannot view the
screen and print the map at the same time, the screen character font size
occupies the full screen in order to get a readable printer character
size. Stars and planets print proportional to their screen view but so
small I can not distinguish them. I examined MS word and have the same
character font sizes, which print properly. I also did a "Print Screen" of
the v3.09 screen output map and copied that to MS Publisher. The output
was an excellent representation of the screen with all characters printing
properly.
I hope this gives you a better idea of what is occurring. There isn't
much I can change besides the type of print and the optional font sizes.
Obviously something is changing the printed characters and objects to a
much smaller size while the map remains the correct size. Why does Ciel
v2.76 print the screen font size #8 properly and v3.09 reduce the screen
font size #8 on printing to a printer output too small to read? What
program or plug-in controls or changes the printer output font size?
Thanks
William Allardice
