I had a slewing problem with 3.0.0.9. I am happy to report the problem is gone with 3.0.1.0.
I did find the program generally slower. I am running on a 3GHz system with 1 GB of RAM, but I have just about every standard catalog loaded (including USNO). When the program was not in the foreground the "follow the scope" feature did not result is screen refreshes. I also found bringing program to the foreground did not help. I frequently had to change my filed of view just to get the screen to update. I'm afraid how the program will run on my 300Mhz laptop. I use that laptop to drive my scope when I'm imaging with the other laptop. I have every catalog except the USNO catalog on that laptop. I do like the new features and found every thing to work as expected. I'd suggest playing with the optimization option on the new compiler. Go for speed, we all have big hard drives anyway.
